I think the whole article is a bit dramatic. They've had their ups and downs on personal and professional levels and they still have their fan base. Maybe right now they're physically and emotionally exhausted from all the excitement of the past year. Although they are a group, they are still entitled to have their own private lives (as private as they can be) and try out solo projects or whatever chances they may have to take for their personal happiness. I love BSB and have found their music to be continually enjoyable. I wish them all luck on their future endeavors.

I didn't think that it was a bad article. It atleast told the truth. I hate it when people interview them and make their life style out to be perfect. Like when AJ went into rehab, he kept getting asked why he was so depressed b/c he had fame and fortune. I honestly don't think that Nick having a solo career will hurt the band's success. AJ went on his own tour for a while and then came back and the band was fine. There will always be rumors and gossip going on about them, nothing to worry about. Kev seems to be the most outspoken about how he feels, but he didn't say anything too outlanish. He just has concern and why shouldn't he? It has to do with his life and career. All in all, I think they'll get through whatever they're going through right now. No matter what they decide to do I will support them, but I'm not going to worry myself over any of this.

to carie, what i meant is that the comments in this forum seemed to be mostly surrounding what's going on with the band, if nsync is better or worse, arguments over album sales figure etc , when what should really be taken from the article is a better understanding of the inner working music industry with backstreet boys as an example and in turn how it is spun to be presented to the outside.

xingular, the quote from BSB's manager Ira Azoff is hardly rumor. He stated it. The comment that the boys "stormed out of the room," could only have come from someone who was inside that room. My guess, by the structure of that article, the source was Kevin. Again, no gossip, no rumor.

People should realize that the NY times article was trying to point out the inside working and brutality of the music industry versus what is presented to the outside. People should take that out of the article instead of fretting over the gossip rumors as that is not the place for the Ny times.

Thearsa, while I agree with most of what you say, I view the music industry this way: there are two distinct camps, the business people (managers, lawyers, record execs, retailers, etc) and the artists. For the music biz people, it will always be about making money.. so, in my opinion, one is just as good (or bad) as the other. I don't really think it matters if Nick stayed with The Firm or not in that regard. Whether or not he discussed that with the other fellas, well.. they say he didn't. I'm not too sure. If you noticed, the reporter did not go to Nick for his comments about that, or the fact that BSB's manager stated he didn't care if Nick was in the group or not. A big hole in that article, if you ask me. Whatever happened, Nick has certainly taken the high road, never bashing the other fellas, always saying they aren't breaking up, they are like family, etc. On the other hand, I've not heard a lot of words of support from any of them regarding Nick's solo project. Who is then left in a bad light?

I thought that the article was very good. I think that the article was trying to show us BSB fans that the boys basically made the pop industry what it is today. It was built by the sweat off their backs. Trust me guys, Lou Pearlman is going to get what he deserves someday and it isn't going to be good. I also think that Nick should be ashamed of himself. I have been with BSB from the beginning and I for one cannot believe that he is deserting the band to do a solo gig. Nick turned on the band to stay with Jive records and the Firm, and if the article is correct, he gave them no warning and I see that as a type of betrayal. When they decided as a group to leave in that meeting, Nick decided to stay without having talked it over with any member of the group. I'm sure that the group stomped out and I'm sure that they were mad as hell at him for choosing them over the group. When they needed him the most, he decided to leave. I don't think that the article was trying to show our boys in a negative light, I just think that it was trying to show us that they built pop music and that the record label used N'SYNC as an antagonist. They pitted these two bands against each other. The record companies have cheated and lied to our boys and I for one am glad that they are opening their eyes and stepping away from all of that. I also cannot conceive that the boys are supporting Nick in his solo efforts. I'm sure that they love him and that they want the best for him, but he left them, the group didn't leave Nick. Do you guys really think that if Nick is successful on his own that he is going to want to return to being in a band? I don't and I think that the boys can go on recording and performing without him. I hope that they do and that they are successful in it. I don't think that their time is over and I think they need us fans more than ever. The article was showing us that it was BSB in the beginning and it will be BSB in the end. Nick left his bandmates at a crucial time. He decided to stay with the company that ripped them off. The Firm obviously hasn't changed. With the release of Nick's new album, look who also has a new album, Justin Timberlake. The article shows that in the record industry, there is no time to be creative, and that is what our boys want to do. I for one am looking forward to the next BSB album, with or without Nick, and I have no doubts that it will be their greatest to date. The article was just trying to show us that BSB is one of the hardest working groups in the business who just so happen to get stuck in a lot of bad business deals. Anyway that's my opinion, take it for what you will.

Ok You backstreet fans are pathetic! How much do you listen to each other? Well not that much, because you don't talk to a lot of people in here. I want to help you because I see one or two people trying and I feel sorry for them. First of all people have been asking you to request "LARGER THAN LIFE", is it that hard to call/email your radio stations and tell them to play that song. I always call them up and tell them to play the song because I'm the requestor and they're the dj. Then you can write to magazines and tell them to put bsb in there. We the nsync fans do that, and they have no choice but give you what you want. But remember that you have to tell them in demand (that means a lot of you have to write, just like how you voted for nick on cosmogirl survival of the sexiest). Do you think if a couple of you vote o request that they will listen to you, yeah right! Personaly I like to see bsb last and get greater recognition because they are so awesome to you. It makes me cry to know that bsb are so awesome to you and thank you through thick and thin, and all nsync can do is think about how great they are. I'm sorry, I love nsync but they think they're the best and they never thank us the fans. You really have the best band, but if you don't help them soon then they really will be gone. I love nsyncs songs and their dance moves, but bsb have given you so much, so don't loose it. but nsyncs songs are way better than bsb's ha ha!

I love the Backstreet Boys! And I agree that they have not and are not going to break up. They are always honest with their fans and I know that if something is up with them, they are the first ones to announce it. The boys just want to take a break and want to try new things or relax. I'm pretty sure that they will be back soon with a new album and hotter than ever. I believe in them. They are and will always be number one!

So I try to be positive but for some reason that pisses you off. Wel Im sorry. Screw you, stop bringing people down by saying that BSB doesnt wanna come back. Cuz you aint look like god to me, how do you know if they wanna come back or they aint wanna come back. They can take their time and make it good. WOW! That articles is just...WOW! 1st of all I think they made Leighanne out to be some overprotective and controling wife in that part. 2nd of all they made it sound like BSB are the "bad guys" in this whole deal which isnt good for them. So what if *NSYNC sells more albums n everything but everyone forgets to sit down and think that BSB are MUCH better singers! I have been 2 3 BSB concerts and 1 *NSYNC concert (yes I'm the 1st to admit i went to an *NSYNC concert..What can i say I had a momentary laps of judgement lol) and yes *NSYNC concert was good and so was BSB...*NSYNC was more theatrical and focused on the sets and dancing. BSB's all focoused on the songs and their voices. When i go to a concert I want to hear people sing, like bsb, not lipsync (and yes *NSYNC DID lipsync) and dance around. You all know what I mean

hey its me again. i just want to THANK abigail!!!!!! that video was so cute! i totally agree with her. we've gotta be there for bsb, they have given us so much, now its our time to give back when they come out again. i was reading an entry (first name Destiny i think) and it was about that she had heard back to your heart and it reminded her of her ex and after that she called him and they've been together ever since. and if it wasn't for that song, she was planning on killing herself, now that is a VERY VERY VERY TOUCHING STORY!!! lets just be there for bsb, always. wow, that was kinda short ( i hope) k i'm done. Take care, God Bless, and Keep The Backstreet Pride Alive!

We shouldn't worry about BSB breaking up! The Boys have been aroud for nearly 10 years! Do you really think that they have never fought, never have problems with managers?! It's not because we actually know their problems that they'll break up!!!

Okay here is the way I look at Nick releasing an album. BsB as a group is NOT READY to do all of the work for an album. They have wives, or are going to, families, charities, other business, or are on the brink of a nervous breakdown. Because seriously they go go go all the time and they need to relax.

Okay..I think all the record sales stuff is sooo stupid...People look at how much they sold during the first week...thats stupid..cuz it means BSB probably Sold more than NSYnc in a two week or three week span, but no one notices...

Ok, so basically what some of you need to do is realize that things over in the Backstreet Camp ain't so hunky-dory. It doesn't make you any less of a BSB fan. Reality is this: things aren't perfect between the guys and to be honest I don't think they'll have the patience to be around much longer. I think they'll all wanna get on with their lives. The article was real. Deal with it. I've been a BSB fan for seven years, and I love them with every single fiber of my being, but, I don't think they'll wanna stick around much longer.

Blah, Blah, Blah... MIA YOU SUCK. dont pretend you know everything...cuz honestly hun i dont think you do. How do you know nsync didnt bribe Jive, i belive they did in a way. Now Im not trying to be one of those oh i hate nsync and love sbb ppl. Well I dont really care about Nsync too much, but you cant sit here and say nsync didnt have an effect on bsb because you and i and everyone else know that they did. But from the sounds of it you love nsync. well go 4 it, no ones stopping you. And I dunno dude, also from the sounds of it..it sounds like you dont really think too much of bsb. I mean yeah, nick n brian mightnot hang out every day of their friggen lives..but that doesnt mean they aint friends. they have fights just like any regular frienddship, and you think that just becaus the media doesnt tell you whenver they hang out that they dont? they probably do. The media doesnt know everythink k? BSB will do fine, and its people who think like you bring everyone else down. aniways ktbspa..plz.
