Hi Guys,
Everyone here is a huge fan of the Backstreet boys, with this in mind, it doesn't matter what anyone else has to say about them.
Also to be remembered though, is that the Backstreet boys have had a pretty good run and should be supported in any decisions made for the future.

u know :i wonder if this article is an abuse or not!i feel bad that someone's trying to write the bsb history because nobody should write about them like they're over!
despite that the autor says how the backstreet boys become more mature and they've grown up like artists.that's true. but the journalist treats that fact as some tragedy(!!!).why's that?i think he has no right to judge them-he's not an artist or a fan...so he should see the sells and how bsb fans still buy albums like crazy!!!
that what really drives me mad r the non-stopping rumours about bsb's split!didn't those ppl got enough!!!the latest crap was posted on mtve.com.backstreet fans forgived(or not?) mtv ignoring the guys but come on...that's too much!

I'm not dure what to think except this is just an article. An article witch means nothing. Most will have forgotten about it in a year. They act like BSB is dead, but they are wrong. As long as we fans stick behind them, they will make the biggest come back ever! WE just need to comtinue to KEEP THE BACKSTREET PRIDE ALIVE ALWAYS AND FOREVER!

Every successful band goes through some tough times...and low points. It's what makes them stronger, and after their phenominal success, the boys were due for that time. But I think they'll learn from it and come out a better group (if possible) and be known for their committment and contribution to music worldwide...just like Elvis! lol...nsync will be remembered too, but no one says the word nsync without immediately thinking backstreet boys.

ok i think we all know that amy is a closet case backstreet fan :P . other than that, the entire situation is based on how the culture industry works. the music industry will try to kill their products by reproducing similar products ie..backstreet boys and nsync. since bsb has been on hiatus, it will be nsync's turn next, so don't worry, everything will work out.

Okay one thing that stuck out to me was the part where they said that Leighanne was having a huge influence on Brian's decisions about The Firm. Brian and Leighanne are married of course her opinions are going to matter to him but he also has a mind of his own and he is quite capable of making his own decisions. Besides what does it matter if he was against staying with the firm, it clearly stated that A.J was also against staying with the firm.
About the Black and Blue album...of course we dont see that album as a failure because we are the fans and we love them dearly but they tend to be more critical of themselves. And when they compare their record sales and ticket sales to that of Nsync and that of their last album and their last tour, it probably does make them feel like they werent happy with it. I think the guys were probably happy with the album in general but i think they were less happy about the decline in record sales and ticket sales. Then they released the greatest hits album, which is not going to sell as much as the regular albums because greatest hits albums never sell the same amount of records as the regular albums. Its like that with every artist. Usually its only the die hard fans that buy greatest hits albums.
The only thing we, as fans, as well as the Backstreet Boys can do is just learn from our mistakes. Of course Backstreet Boys have made mistakes in the buisness...everyone does!! You learn from it and move on. We will know to be more supportive of our boys when this next tour and album come along.

One wonderful thing about this article though is that it shows a lot of the trials and tribulations that our boys have gone through just to keep the fans happy. They have been through so much as a group and most people have no clue about all of their hard work and emotional struggles that they have had to push to the side just to keep the fans happy. They are truly survivors and i dont care what anyone says they're gonna be around for a while.

Ok, I agree with you totally Jamie. I think this article is stupid. just..plain...STUPID. ok, Ive said this many times before..BLACK AND BLUE was NOT a failure. it did alot better than alot of bands can ever do. And, the tour was the most thoughtfull thing i have ever seen a band do. WHta kind of band would go to every continent in 100 hours so that the fans can see them? The backstreet boys. What band writes songs to and about their fans and realeses them?yeah..the backstreet boys. They are doing this for us. You gotta be there for them. Dont listen to some old money hungry, pricks who dont know half the real truth about bsb. I think bsb should wait for the perfect moment and realese this album with a sweet ass comeback.lol. it'll be like...WHOZ YA DADDY...'S....ya bsb. please everyonebe there for them when they do this, get an album, go to da concert, request them on the radiop and tv. lets prove to these ppl what we can do for the best band in da world. We should arrange a date..everyone in USA request a bsb video on mtv on...August 22 (howies bday) and everyone in CANADA we'll request a bsb video on Much Music on August 22. ALSO everyone in da world do it too. OK? lets do it for the guys, they do it for us. xoxo

Well, I really didn't think the article was putting the guys down or anything, I thought instead it was just chronicaling (?) their management history, and I thought it made the management companies and music industry look bad, which I believe it is. I think those companies only care about how much money they make, as with all large companies. I work for a very large nationwide company and I get angry on a weekly basis because they push us so hard to drive sales while pretending to care about customer service, and I feel the most important thing is how much money they make. It is very two-sided.
I think most, if not all, of what the article said was probably true.
I also think that Nick's solo album will only bring more attention to the group, I don't think it can hurt them to have more attention.
And lastly, I think the Black & Blue album would have done much better had their management put more effort into it. There were several songs on that album that would have made great singles and were just overlooked and the whole running of it was cut short. I think they definitely should have released "Not For Me" as a single, and possibly "Shining Star". But it seems someone was trying to just rush it through, like to get it over with. The guys were ripped off on that one for sure.
I just hope their new management and new album are handled better so that they can get the attention and success they deserve.

First I just want to say that I thought the article was interesting. Somethings pissed me off like when they said that crap about Nick. But after reading that it makes me apreciate them 100% more. they really went though hell to get to where they're at. I have so more much respect for them now. I really don't listen to what people say anymore when they talk about bsb breaking up. If they were right bsb would have broken up before the second album was released. I still believe in bsb and I always will
To all the fans just hang in there

You know reading that article only make me feel worst! i mean, not to say that its true or anything but when he said that the guys are recording w/o nick, what does it shows about our boys to the world? i feel that altho it helps to let others understand about their problems with ppl like Lou, that this article is unjustified. It didn't reflect the true Backstreet Boys at all.

But guess what? watching that vid where the guys were recording for Arthur's theme song and watching them goof around with each other, ALL five of them...that helped a lot! now i don't feel so bad anymore...

like you girls said, there are and million and one thing positive to say and all that is featured there doesn't sound that way. And what does he mean that changing members is okay? sheesh...

girls, we know the pride is still alive, whatever is said and done, as long as it doesn't come from the boys, we can't believe anything.

that's my opinion anyways...so...heh..hope you girls share the same sentiments!

Oh wow, look at what a writer from the New York Times have to say! I can write an article with all positive things about the Backstreet Boys, and is that going to change peoples' mind about them? What does a lil dinky article have to do with us loving the group?

Why can't we just stop what's going on? There should be no competition whatsoever about the Backstreet Boys or any other group, especially NSync. Who really cares what others think? Why can't we just leave the horrible things in the past behind and live what the future has for us?

Why are some people so blind? All artists work their asses off to give what they have. I truly think the Backstreet Boys are the best and do I care what others think? No.

End of story.

Call me crazy, but being maybe one of the oldest BSB fans responding to this article...I'm 22 years old...I have never liked or trusted Lou Pearlman! He is an ass, a greedy, pathetic, and overall unethical man, who has No Right to be in any sort of business. period! I will always be a Backstreet Boys fan. FOREVER! As far as The Firm goes...I do think it's shady that Nick is staying with them and not getting out while the getting is good, but no matter what I love Nick Carter and am very happy for his solo record! (I plan to buy at least 2 copies)
As far as BSB breaking up...there looks like there is a more likely chance of NSYNC doing that if you look at it. I know that Nick will not leave his fellow Backstreet Brothers..even if he does chose to stay with The Firm, after all he's the same age as me and we are both adults. But I have to admit it did shock me a bit, but who cares I still love him.
As long as AJ, Howie, Kevin, Brian and Nick know they can always count on their true blue fans they will come back. Rememeber we got to keep the BACKSTREET PRIDE alive! All my love goes to Howie, AJ, Brian, Nick and Kevin! ONCE A BSB FAN ALWAYS A BSB FAN!!!!

Ok, I've been reading how people are angry about them being shut out of the VMAs... and well, this is what I have to say..

The BSB didn't have any strong videos. I don't think The Call was able to be considered for this year. Drowning was, and maybe MTT, but neither of those 2 videos were at all fantabulous. It was the typical group video where they just sing and vogue andthere is no story line at all. I have noticed that since Kevin and Brian have gotten married, they have stopped making videos with female counterparts. They don't even involve fans. I think that in involving themselves in storylines, they think that they are somehow being disrespectful to their wives and girlfriends. Remember the Rolling Stone photoshoot with the girls who were posing naked around the Guys? Well, Brian refused to be a part of that. If they could make an artful video, I'm sure it would be worthy of nomination consideration.

Also, you have to really feed into MTV in order to gain their attention. That network relies on Britney Spears to live. She is their princess. The princess' people probably gives MTV alot of money to have her do this that and the other. Same goes for the Nsync boys. There is money involved in TV. Public opinion only matters so much. TRL is fixed and a bunch of fat 40 year old suits decide on everything. You get what you give, and with all of their troubles, the BSB can't give. This is why it looks really strange to see the Backstreet Boys not get jack crap from the channel yet they have millions of fans who will go and crowd the streets to see them at TRL when they come into the city. They probably get more love from their fans than Nsync gets from their own, but you will never see that represented anywhere.

Ok, I may end up getting some hate mail for this, but oh well, it's my opinion. There are some harsh things in that article, but they are true. I think a majority of BSB fans have grown with the Boys and we are all a little more mature now ourselves and can realize that in the real world business can be harsh. Especially the entertainment business. I love the Boys as much as the next fan, if not more, and above all else I want to see them stay around for a long time, and to be all the same members. More than anything right now I want to hear a new BSB cd, but at the same time I'm glad they aren't releasing one right now. Look at the music business right now. Pop music is not the popular genre right now, if the Boys released a cd now, they would be laughed at and would have no chance of ever having a strong come back. If they play their cards right they can release a cd at the right time to bring pop music back, just the way they did the first time. But everyone has to realize that that might take some time. As far as Nick doing something solo, I say he should go for it, as long as it doesn't interfer with the group work. as long as Nick is putting BSB first then no one has any right to be upset. fame comes and goes for many groups, what is happening to the Boys right now is nothing new. Other groups have been through the same problems before and have been able to recover. The Boys will be able to do it to, as long as they want to. They may have been born to perform, but they also need to take care of themselves and their families first. It will be a sad day in music when the Backstreet Boys call it quits, but I don't think we will be seeing that day any time soon. They have been through a lot, they are going through a lot right now, it is only making them stronger. I think the record labels and management teams need to get their stories and their figures straight, until then don't release stories that are going to cause a lot of controversy over a lot of gossip. Management should let the Boys do what they want, (to an extent) that way if anything goes wrong they only have themselves to blame. The major theme that i got from this article was not necessarily about the Boys, but about music in general. It's a shame that music isn't even about music anymore. music is business, and business is corrupt.

KTBSPA, NO MATTER WHAT.

I don't really care what people think about BSB. If you like them, great. If you don't, fine. I'm not going to go into the whole "BSB vs. NSYNC" thing, because it's ridiculous. There is plenty of room in the World for both bands. They both deserve all the awards and acknowledgement they receive. Who cares if Nick and Justin go solo? So what. Let them have their own chance. No one is stopping the rest of the guys from going solo. Plus, why is everyone making such a big deal about Brian and Kevin getting married? Did people expect them to stay single forever because they are famous? that's just plain stupid. No one made a big deal when Joey from NSYNC became a father, did they? He isn't even married and he went and got someone pregnant. No one is making a big deal out of that though because "Hey, it's Joey from NSYNC." Whatever. He had a baby out of wedlock...that's a big deal to me. What kind of example is that for kids? At least Brian and Kevin got married first before they began talking about children. People just need to mind their own business and enjoy the music. The music, the songs, the lyrics...that's what its all about. If you don't like their music, why are you even bothering listening to them or reading something about them. If you don't like them, leave it be and move on. What did your mothers used to tell you when youo were a kid..."If you don't have anythign nice to say, don't say anything at all." Remember that folks. Give them praise for their accomplishments and move on. Quit concentrating on stupid stuff like this when there are more important things in the World...oh like War and terrorism and stuff like that. Remember?
